SeaSpatial was founded in 2009 in Santa Cruz, California. We have over 20 years experience working in fields as diverse as energy, fisheries, oceanography, and marine research. Our personnel have worked worldwide in over 12 countries and on some of the largest geophysical surveys ever conducted. Our expertise ranges from web map development and spatial data management to ecological research to pipeline route and subsea field layout planning to geohazard surveys to desktop studies and mapping and charting.

SeaSpatial's principal is Mr. Matthew Levey (CV ; programming resume; ResearchGate). Mr. Levey has a Master of Science degree in Marine Science from Moss Landing Marine Laboratories and has worked in the marine science field for over 20 years. He specializes in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) for geophysical and biological data. Mr. Levey is proficient in Python programming for spatial and data analysis and geoprocessing, and has experience acquiring and processing multibeam and sidescan sonar data, as well as working with seismic, subbottom profiler, magnetometer, and gravitometer acquisition and data. He also has extensive experience on large-scale biological and geophysical surveys and has been a client representative for Unocal, Kerr-Mcgee, Reliance India, Noble Energy, Devon Energy, TGS-Nopec, Black Gold Energy, and British Gas for oil exploration, geohazard surveys, and pipeline route planning. He has worked in Mexico, Indonesia, Brazil, India, Spain, Trinidad and Tobago, Ecuador, Morocco, Turkey, Angola, Ghana, Australia, and the Gulf of Mexico.
Mr. Levey is a member of the Monterey Bay Marine GIS User Group Leadership Team.
